When Brent and Gil were finally done the construction phase of the The New Farm Kitchen, they wanted to celebrate the occasion. With good friends visiting from France and England, there was a rare opportunity when their close knit group was all in one place at the same time.
It rained off an on throughout the day and I got trapped in the hoop house for a while when I went out to harvest cucumbers and tomatoes for the salad course. The weather gave us a chance to use the indoor space and the outdoor space at The New Farm Kitchen. We cooked whole wings of skate for the main course and were able to use a beautiful cowboy grill crafted by the team at Iron Butterfly.
The rarity of this occasion was really brought to bear by the appearance of a double rainbow. The rain clouds had been threatening all afternoon and we were able to set up the raw bar out on the patio. When the rain clouds finally broke, we escaped the deluge barely. The storm didn’t last more than a few minutes, but the double rainbow was around for an hour. What a gorgeous site.
